Conversion of parts program V4 to V6 (or V5)

Tip and Trick – 2011-09-07

First of all the files *.gxt, *.cxt and *pxt must exist in the V4 program, to do this it is advisable to fist generate the tables in the version 4.

In TB-DECO V4

Open the program in V4

Open the tool catalogue

Edit a tool

Save the tool (OK)

Close tool catalogue

Generate the tables

(Warning ! there should not be any alarms during generation)

Save all

Close TB-DECO V4

In TB-DECO V6

Open TB-DECO V6

Click on «open Decoxxx part»

Search for the program to convert

Select the desired *.pxt file

Click on «open»

The files «*.gxt, cxt, pxt » (V4) will then be transformed into «*.dbp» (V6) files

Note :
If the database (machine) does not exist in version V6, a dialog box appears.

Conversion of machine parameters V4.32 (*.MD) in V6 (*.DBM)

Select a machine (Example: DECO10 : V4 : V4_9_10)

Click on «OK».

Open TB-DECO version 6

In the TB-DECO menu to the upper left, Click on «Files \ Machine Manager»

Select the machine

Click on «Add Machine»

The "Select Machine Database To Activate" window appears. In the «Type» list below, select «Old machines (*.md)».

Search for the desired «*.md» file in the version 4.32

Click on «open». The files «*.md» (V4) will then be transformed into «*.dbm» (V6) files.

The message «M1159: Operation successfully terminated» appears.

Conversion of machine parameters before V4.32 in V6 (*.DBM)

For the versions of machine parameters before the version V4.32, first open the part programs, generate the tables, and then save with TB-DECO V4.32 like in the previous procedure «conversion of part program V4 to V6».

«Alarm 1153: selected machine is unknown»

It is possible that an automatic conversion of the machine database of version TB-DECO V4 to V6 will not be done!

  1. Close all the applications.

  2. Open the desired machine with « EDIT_DB » 4.32 to update the database (Windows Menu : Start\Programs\Tornos\TB-DECO\Edit_DB).

  3. If this message appears: «Older database version, do you want to update?» •••> click on «YES» , then you can convert to V6 (machine parameter conversion procedure V4.32 •••> V6 shown above).

    If no message appears then, close EDIT_DB and continue from point 4.

  4. Open the machine database (file *.md) with Notepad or WordPad.

  5. In the section [GLOBAL] add or edit the line DBVersion=4.3 (old : DBVersion=4)

  6. Add or edit the following DBTemplate in the following manner :

    Example for DECO 7/10 Version 1:

    [GLOBAL]
    ... ...
    DBTemplate=7.1

    Values for other machines:

    DBTemplate=7.2 ;deco7/10 V2
    DBTemplate=7.3 ;deco7/10 V3
    DBTemplate=7.4 ;deco7/10 V4
    DBTemplate=20.4 ;deco20 V4
    DBTemplate=26.4 ;deco26 V4
    DBTemplate=266.1 ;decoM266 V1
    DBTemplate=206.1 ;decoM206 V1
    ...etc.

  7. Save and close the machine database file

To check

Machine database for DECO10 until series 5:

The machine databases (*.md) DECO10 V3&V4 up to series 5 do not contain ID 40 support for the counterspindle. In this case it is necessary to manually add this support with the axes X=8, Y=0, Z=9, and the geometries 40 and 49 in order to be able to use the new version 5 models and examples.

Machine database for DECO10 series 9:

From series 9 the machine databases DECO10 V1 and V2 (Machine without counter-spindle) were delivered with a 40 support which should not be present. In this case it is necessary to delete this support as well as all other supports which may not be associated to a group of axes
