| 2007-09-17 | HTML | PDF | Operating without guide bush and left-hand feeder: a great success for Micro 8 and its users The Micro 8 is proof that a turning machine without guide bush can offer an extraordinary level of precision.
In Hannover, the Swiss machine manufacturer is presenting its famous Micro 8 turning machine that has already made a name for itself (formerly known as Sigma 8). Indeed, according to European standards, not only is the bar feeder on the wrong side, but it also operates without guide bush and every experienced operator will tell you that this is not the best solution. So why is this turning machine the most precise on the market with impressive tolerance results of 1.4 microns in production?
|
| 2007-09-17 | HTML | PDF | Complete dental solutions on several machines at EMO Tornos is exhibiting several machines producing parts for different sectors this Autumn in Hannover. In the medical/dental sector, Tornos is presenting the DECO 13a that will be machining a dental implant in titanium. With over 20 years experience in this market, thread whirling and machining very difficult materials hold no secrets for Tornos and enables customers to benefit from their total control of the process.
|
| 2007-09-17 | HTML | PDF | New machine and name changes: Tornos reinforces its position as leader for small diameter machining At EMO 2007, Tornos will be unveiling the Micro 7 (together with other innovations) and is changing the name of the DECO Sigma 8 to Micro 8. The aim of this operation is to clarify the position of Tornos in the market. The new Micro range will be directed primarily at the market historically occupied by Tornos. The ambition behind these two machines is that they will take the place of cam-type turning machines.
|
| 2007-09-17 | HTML | PDF | Sigma 32 - A World First at EMO Reap the benefits of tremendous power and strength for workpieces up to 32mm in diameter at EMO! This is the slogan that Tornos will use to unveil the Sigma 32, an automatic single-spindle turning machine with mobile headstock at the EMO show in Hanover. This new turning machine is intended for bar turning operations on workpieces up to 32mm in diameter: Sigma 32.
|
| 2007-09-17 | HTML | PDF | Operating from billets on MultiAlpha At EMO 2007, Tornos is presenting a multi-spindle turning machine designed for producing parts from 'billets' and not bars of material. The MultiAlpha turning machine is fitted with a double back-operation system equipped with five tools. This way, the ' 2x4' principle also applies to the back-operations.

Tornos to Represent Esco Coil-Fed Automatic Screw Machines in North America
(Brookfield, CT - December 6, 2004)
Tornos Technologies U.S Corporation has signed an agreement with Esco S.A. (Les Geneveys-sur-Coffrane, Switzerland), to sell and service its line of Escomatic coil-fed screw machines in the U.S., Canada, and Mexico. The product line was previously imported by Hansco Technologies (Montvale, NJ) which has filed for bankruptcy. The announcement was made by Thomas Dierks, president of Tornos Technologies.
"We will support existing Esco customers with process engineering, service, spare parts, and tooling at the same high level to which Tornos and Esco customers are accustomed," said Mr. Dierks. "We simply ask for their patience during the transition."Tornos plans to hire a portion of the Hansco staff which has expertise in the Esco product line. The company will also prospect for new Esco installations with comprehensive sales and marketing activities. Although both companies manufacture small diameter screw machines, the two lines are more complementary than competitive, according to Mr. Dierks.
"Tornos has historically focused on more complex parts, while Esco has specialized in simpler small diameter, high volume applications," said Mr. Dierks. "This partnership will be beneficial to both parties."

Tornos opened its new Shanghai Representative Office
On July 8, 2004, the official opening of the Tornos Shanghai Representative Office was held in the Peace tower in Shanghai. About fifty attendees representing customers, partners and authorities had the opportunity to discover the Tornos strategy. Furthermore they learned more about the products of Tornos through presentations given by R. Stauffer - CEO of Tornos and Daniel Hess - General Manager of Tornos Asia.
China is the first worldwide consumer in the machine tool industry; this market has been growing constantly for several years. Today China mainly imports very added value technology and material. The high-end products and solutions offered by Tornos are exactly tailored to these demands and will offer excellent opportunities for Asian customers in order to improve their productivity.

TORNOS:
have been providing established solutions to the electric and electronic field since its beginnings
Electronics: part of our everyday lives!
Like the car sector or mechanical engineering, electronics also benefits from the technological progress made in small parts turning.
In the electronics sector, the progress made in the miniaturisation of pcbs and the ever growing speed of communications tended to block out another, more mechanical sector, where precision and extreme demands are vital and the results of which are very tangible - namely the small parts turning sector!

A cutting oil for all occasions : MOTOREX SWISSCUT ORTHO NF-X
Anyone who wanted to machine high-alloy steel, non-ferrous metal or even castings with a high-performance cutting oil, could not avoid having to operate separate production lines or make compromises. The Swiss lubricants company, MOTOREX, has recently been offering a high-performance cutting oil suitable for all materials.
Some may say, "universal cutting oils have been around for a long time". This is quite true, but the user had to take certain disadvantages on board with these multi-talented fluids. Compromises, such as lower cutting speeds and feed values etc., quickly had an effect on productivity. Many took the lesser evil on board and topped up the machine again. The fact that such scenarios no longer fit in the present day is almost self-evident. In introducing the new vmax-technology (increasing the cutting data and hence productivity) MOTOREX has acknowledged the needs of the industry and now offers a complete novelty within the SWISSCUT ORTHO family: the high-performance cutting oil, MOTOREX ORTHO NF-X.
Dramatically improved flexibility
Anyone who frequently has to produce small and medium-size series, is acquainted with the great advantage of being able to deploy the fleet of machines in an optimum way. We all know that today, customers' deadlines are fixed requirements, which have a marked influence on the successful conclusion of the order. This fact requires maximum flexibility from the small part turners and new solutions from suppliers.

We will be pleased to give you further information about the new MOTOREX vmax-technology and the SWISSCUT ORTHO cutting oils.

What is new in pre-setting?
In small parts turning, pre-setting is of vital importance to producing manufacturing facilities.
For a long time now, single-spindle DECO lathes have been fitted with an auxiliary pre-setting device.
This system, which is specific to each machine, has to undergo some rather annoying changes when altering the tool pre-setting for one type of DECO machine to another (for example, the DECO 13a to DECO 20a) on the same unit.
Universality
To dispense with this resetting operation, Tornos has now introduced a new universal pre-setting unit for all DECO machines.
This new device even further simplifies tool pre-setting by way of a single calibration for all the machines (no resetting) and a rapid change of settings for the different machines based on a patented bearing centering system.
This drastically reduces the tool change-over times for the different machines.
