Tornos Kepler Loop

In-machine measurement and automatic correction

Tornos Kepler Loop integrates geometric measurement directly into the SwissNano. During the production cycle, the system inspects microtechnical parts, detects dimensional deviations and transmits the data to the CNC control to enable automatic correction.

This solution is particularly suitable for small, thin or fragile components, where production stability and precision are essential.

Your benefits:

• Measurement directly integrated into the machine

• Detection of dimensional deviations during production

• Automatic process correction

• Reduced manual intervention

• Reduced scrap caused by dimensional deviations

• Very low-force probing suitable for fragile parts

• Thermal compensation

• Suitable for use with cutting oil

• Measurement chain accuracy below 0.5 µm

These characteristics correspond to the documented capabilities of the system.

A measurement and correction loop

Kepler Loop transforms dimensional inspection into an integrated step of the production cycle:

1. Produce The SwissNano machines the part under normal production conditions.

2. Measure The analog sensor measures accessible dimensions of the part directly inside the machine with very low contact force.

3. Analyze The measurements are compared with the target dimension to identify deviations and monitor their evolution.

4. Correct The CNC control uses the data obtained to apply the corrections defined by the process configuration, particularly to compensate for tool wear.

Designed for microtechnical parts

Thanks to its analog probing technology without a contact return spring, Kepler Loop applies a very low contact force, thereby limiting the risk of deflection of thin or delicate components.

The system can measure external diameters from 0.1 to 6.5 mm and internal diameters from 0.5 to 6.5 mm, depending on the part geometry and the sensor used. Lengths, depths, grooves and shoulders can also be measured when accessible.

Applications

Kepler Loop is particularly suited to demanding applications in watchmaking, electronics and connectivity, medical and dental, as well as micromechanics.
